Do you have it? Do you want it?

Seriously though, social skills can be very helpful – in business and in romantic situations. It is nice to feel comfortable when you meet new friends at the pub or new colleagues at work.

Do you have to give an important presentation or face an interview for a new job? It might not be common practice for you, but when you have to – you would like to do it well.

Why do we feels so out of place sometimes – all fingers and thumbs – lost for words when we long to chat easily? How is that some of us never know how to attract the waiter’s attention, how to change a boring conversation into an interesting one or make ourselves heard at a meeting?

Sometimes there are reasons. As children, many of us were never encouraged to shine. Some how, looking good and feeling on top were mistaken for showing off.

But there is an old saying that it is never to late to have a happy childhood! And those painful memories can spoil the way we want to be now. So we worry about how we appear to others. What will we say? How will we dress? Often there is just a miserable hole at the bottom of our bucket of confidence and it never really seems to feel full.

When did you last feel loved and accepted by those around you? How often do you get up in the morning and feel that the world is just waiting for you to reach out and take part in all the fun and laughter that is out there? Would you like to feel that way now?

Ok, so perhaps things were not too good in the past. But that doesn’t mean that your future now need be ruined. No way! ....
